The newly commissioned Ipetumodu City Library project seeks to revitalize educational access and foster a culture of learning among students in the community.
In his welcome address on behalf of the IDF, Barrister Banji Akinloye praised the vision and dedication behind the library initiative. He emphasized that the project was a joint effort spearheaded by Chief Femi Adesina, the Oluomo of Ipetumodu, with major funding from the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and additional support from the IDF.
Reflecting on Ipetumodu’s educational heritage, Barr. Akinloye remarked, “This library symbolizes a revival of the academic excellence we once valued. It stands as a beacon of hope for our youth and a testament to what our community can accomplish through unity.”
Situated within the ongoing Ipetumodu City House project—funded by the IDF—the library marks a significant milestone in the town’s educational advancement.
Deacon Awoleke Tony, Chairman of the Library Project Committee, recognized the IDF team’s relentless efforts and urged individuals and organizations to contribute toward the project’s completion and long-term sustainability.

“This library is a gift to future generations, and we must ensure it endures as a cornerstone of knowledge for years to come,” he affirmed.
Engr. Kazeem Afolabi, IDF’s Social Secretary, underscored the project’s deeper purpose: “Education is a beacon—one that illuminates life’s challenges. Through this initiative, we strive to eliminate ignorance and nurture a lasting culture of curiosity and learning in our youth.”
Chief Engr. Iyiola Ayoola, a member of the Library Project Committee, called on the community to prioritize education as the foundation of Ipetumodu’s progress. “We envision a town where knowledge flourishes, where learning sparks transformation, and where our youth are empowered to rise above societal ills,” he declared.
Oyebamiji Akin, an SS2 student, shared his enthusiasm: “This library opens doors for students like me to expand our knowledge and achieve academic excellence.”
The commissioning ceremony ended with a unified appeal for ongoing partnerships and support to finalize the project and sustain the facility for generations to come. The Ipetumodu City Library now stands as a symbol of shared dedication, communal unity, and a bold step toward a more enlightened future.

Speech from Library Committee chairman Tony Awoleke
Good afternoon all,
The Ipetumodu City Library was commissioned on Saturday 2 November 2024 as part of activities marking the annual Ipetumodu Day. The event was well attended and as we are all aware, the library is now open for use.
We have finalised the appointment of a librarian who is starting work shortly (exact date to be confirmed). The library project is ongoing and far from being finished. Therefore, we encourage everyone to weigh in with their donations, so we can further upgrade the facilities to the very high standards envisaged in the project plan.
We thank the Chairman of IDF and all members of the Executive Body, members of the library committee and all members of IDF (home and abroad) for their support.
A full project report (showing details of money in and money out) is being put together and will be communicated soon.
